The On-line Profile Directory is for the benefit of the public at large and is accessible on the NJCCE
website, www.nj-charactered.net. One specific purpose of the On-line Profile Directory is to assist
New Jersey educators in making wise decisions for use of the New Jersey Character Education Partnership
state-aid funding. For Educators: The On-line Profile Directory has been designed primarily for school
district personnel to help them in selecting, implementing and evaluating character education programs,
services and activities suitable for their schools, however, it may provide useful information to
others interested in character education, such as parents, after-school organizations, or community
leaders.
For Program or Resource Providers: Character Education program and resource providers
are eligible and encouraged to participate in the On-line Profile Directory by providing essential
information about their programs, services and/or products. Providers will receive notice of open
enrollment periods annually each Spring from NJCCE. A minimal registration fee is required to support
maintenance of the on-line system.
One of the new features of the On-line Profile Directory is that participating Providers are now able to
update their contact information at any time. Updates to the content sections of the profiles will occur
during the open enrollment period each year. For more information, click on "Guidelines for Providers" below.
NJ State Aid Funding
NJ State Aid Funding Process
New Jersey has made an unparalleled commitment to support character education programs in its
public schools. Ninety-nine percent of public school districts have initiated character education
programs with the help of designated state aid to school districts in each year from FY2001-2005.
The State FY 2006 budget has made available $4.75 million for the New Jersey Character Education
Partnership Initiative (NJCEP) for program development, implementation and expansion during the
2005-06 school year.
The purpose of this voluntary state aid initiative is to support public school educators in their
adoption of high quality character education programs that will provide direction and leadership
that engenders personal responsibility and respect for others among students and school staff.
The infusion of developmentally appropriate character education programs will foster positive
youth development and create a caring, supportive and orderly school climate that will promote
student success.
